History of the CINCO HILOS Collective

CINCO HILOS was born from the meeting of five women from Oaxaca united by the same heritage, the same passion, and the same craft: Oaxacan drawn thread work . Each one contributes her story, her hands, and her time, but together they weave something greater than a garment: they weave identity, community, and cultural continuity.

The collective emerged as a way to preserve and dignify an ancestral technique passed down through generations. By joining forces, these five artisans decided to protect their knowledge, strengthen their craft, and create high-quality pieces where every thread tells a story and every detail reflects patience, precision, and a love for their work.

Oaxacan drawn thread work is a traditional textile technique that involves carefully removing threads from the fabric and then manually interlacing them to create unique figures, patterns, and transparencies.
